Meaning of Life

Oh boy I spent years trying to work out this one, I’m sure most people do(especially the philosophers among us!) but I must say I was surprised when I came up with an answer that I was actually content with.

Sure I’ve heard the normal answers of to be happy, find love, be a good person ect. but those seemed both too simple and it seems the if the meaning life was suppose to be about finding happiness then you’d think it wouldn’t be so damn awful for so many people! However I also figured that something like this would have to follow the same path as the ‘who am I?’ question, in that the meaning would in fact be different for each person. So is it possible to come up with a general meaning of life? Well, yes I think so!

This is my train of thought, how I arrived to the answer: Without life there is no meaning and without meaning there is no life, so because we each have life we each having a meaning for our lives. Thus the general meaning of life is to find the meaning of your own life! On a more personal level, my meaning of life is to help people through the use of my own crappy experiences and improve the lives of other animals. I will be a psychologist some day and I’ll help people who are struggling with the sorts of things that I’ve also struggled with and of course with some things that I have not. What will make me even better at this is that I know the thought processes involved not only in an academic/clinical way but also in a personal way, I know all the deep secretes that society wants to ignore and I know how to reach these people better.

I hope you all find the meaning of your life, whatever that may be.

About Mandy

I live with an assortment of illnesses and one illness causes me chronic pain so I live with my dad. I'm lucky that Dad looks after me, even though I'm an adult, which allows me to actually live a life. I love animals. I have two dogs, five adopted guinea pigs, and two small tropical fish tanks. I listen and sing (badly) to mainly rock music. I really enjoy reading and often read an assortment of different genres but I do have a special interest in true crime. I was studying psychology with the intention of specialising in Forensic Psychology and when I'm able to I will return to university.
